This cultural alliance was launched as the foundation of the Ras Alliance project, a collaboration between Tajalla for Music and Arts and the City Artists Network. It was officially announced in June 2021 through the regional program “Culture All Around,” under the component of cultural alliances. This platform serves as a core outcome that the Ras Alliance in Jordan aims to achieve, focusing on conducting a study about the cultural landscape in Jordan, reviewing the regulatory frameworks governing cultural work, and presenting them to the public through an accessible platform for all individuals and institutions active in Jordan’s cultural scene.
The Ras Alliance strives to establish the foundation for a long-term alliance that delivers tangible results in the cultural sector and facilitates the exchange of the diverse resources available across different regions of Jordan. It aims to act as a connection point between cultural institutions in Jordan’s governorates, encouraging local cultural entities to network, exchange expertise, and collaborate to develop the cultural scene, enrich local artistic heritage, and enhance their presence.
Such an alliance would foster a sense of societal solidarity, contributing to the acceleration of growth in the cultural sector and advocating for cultural workers’ rights and protections. Jordan is in need of an effective alliance that highlights the significance of cultural work and draws attention to the necessity of ensuring its stability and continuity. Additionally, this alliance would enhance the institutional cultural experience through joint efforts, learning from existing expertise, and developing cultural organizations to achieve more effective and impactful results for communities across the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
