FINYAR

In the Karaki Jordanian dialect, “Finyar” means “lantern” or “source of light.”

Believing in the importance of evolving projects to revive intangible heritage through a contemporary lens, Tajalla decided to venture into the podcasting world with the creation of the “Finyar” project. This initiative offers an excellent platform for youth participation in the cultural and artistic public sphere.

With approximately 70% of the population under the age of 30, many young people aspire to produce audio and visual content, whether for commercial purposes, social media, or personal use. However, they often face challenges, including a lack of specialized training and insufficient resources, particularly in remote southern governorates like Karak.

The Finyar project provides a training program that equips youth in Karak with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce high-quality video and podcast content. The program is designed as an extended plan, implementing advanced and creative workshops aimed at developing technical and artistic skills in podcast production, scriptwriting, and storytelling. These workshops focus on themes connected to the identity, history, and heritage of the city of Karak.
