Russol Al Nasser is celebrated for her efficiency, passion, and visionary leadership in the cultural and artistic fields. With extensive experience as a co-founder and key contributor to several renowned cultural institutions and festivals, she has left an indelible mark on Jordan’s arts landscape.
Her expertise in arts management is enriched by a profound understanding of local Arabic culture, complemented by international practices in the arts and culture industry. Russol’s career spans direct engagement with diverse audiences and stakeholders, film directing, and music production. She played a pivotal role as a founding member of significant artistic platforms, including Al Fawanees Theater and Al Balad Theatre.
Russol has held numerous influential positions, such as Program Consultant for the Jerash Festival and a member of various evaluation committees with Jordanian ministries. In 2019, she served as a member of the Evaluation Committee for Festivals in Jordan.
In 1998, Russol co-founded the renowned musical group “Rum” alongside her brother, the acclaimed composer Tareq Al Nasser. During this time, she collaborated with Scottish musicians, an experience she often describes as a highlight of her music career. Over the past two decades, she has participated in over 400 local, regional, and international festivals and continues to serve as a consultant for Rum’s public performances.
Since 2012, Russol has been the Founder, Director, and Outreach Manager of Tajalla for Music & Arts Society, a unique non-profit organization based in Amman. Through Tajalla, she has pioneered efforts to rediscover and promote Jordan’s rich musical heritage. The organization is widely recognized for its deep connections with local communities, particularly in remote areas such as Wadi Mousa and the Bedouin regions. Tajalla’s public performances often feature collaborations with traditional and folk singers from Jordan and the wider region, highlighting Russol’s dedication to preserving and celebrating diverse musical traditions. With a steadfast belief in the value of cultural exchange and collaboration, Russol continues to champion local, regional, and world music heritage, fostering unique musical phenomena that resonate across audiences.
